Campbell holds an MA in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

He first studied architecture in Auckland before moving to New York to continue his studies at The Cooper Union. It was there, while browsing second-hand books, that he found an exhibition catalogue which inspired The Ferriss Collection.

He recently returned to New Zealand after working for Van Tuil Design Studio in Hobart.
